Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Marie has made these yummy cookies for years and they have always been a favourite with the kids, and now the grandkids love them. The original recipe comes from an old 1980's community cookbook from Turtleford, Saskatchewan.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2/3 cup (166 gm) margarine or butter
  • 1 cup (160 gm) brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) milk
  • 2 cups (256 gm) all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5 ml) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ( 3 ml) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups (375 ml) chocolate chips
  • METHOD:

Preheat oven to 375°F or 190°C

Cream the butter and brown sugar together and then mix in the eggs until mixture is smooth and creamy.

Add the milk and vanilla and mix.

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl, then add gradually to the liquid mix until well-combined.

    Stir in the chocolate chips.

Drop by generous rounded tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets. (I recommend using a Silpat sheet for best results)

Bake each batch for 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown.

    Makes about 24 cookies.
