Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies


  • 1 cup (8 oz - 226 gm) butter, softened
  • 1½ cups (12 oz - 340 gm) white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp (4 ml) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
  • 1½ cups (4.8 oz - 165 gm) all purpose white flour
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 2½ cups (8½ oz - 240 gm) quick-cooking oatmeal flakes
  • 1 cup (3½ oz - 100 gm) chopped pecans



Preheat oven to 350°F or 180°C.
Cream the butter and sugar together before mixing in the eggs and vanilla extract.
Combine the baking soda, flour, cocoa, salt and cinnamon together in a bowl.
Add the powdered ingredients gradually to the egg mixture and mix.
Stir in the oatmeal flakes and pecans.
Drop the dough in heaping teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
