Welcome!
This page originated as a means of getting recipes to our kids after they had left home. They would phone asking for the recipe for Chili con Carne, or Spaghetti Bolognese or something else and I would post it as an addition to my personal (rather primitive) webpage for them to retrieve and print off. Suddenly it turned out that I was being picked up by Google and this created the impetus to work through our family volume of personal recipes and post them on the web. Ten or more years later the pages have evolved into what you see today and traffic levels exceed anything I ever imagined.
All the recipes are family favourites that have been well-tested by ourselves and friends and where there might be room for error I endeavour to provide tips on best methods (i.e. Bread making). Robert's Recipes differs from the larger big-name sites that simply aggregate recipes to generate huge web traffic and revenue. I don't publish an index of hundreds of recipes that I've never personally tried. I can't guarantee that everyone will like all our recipes; just as you might not like everything you are served at a friend's house. All comments are moderated, as this is a family site. If you encounter any difficulty with a recipe, just drop me a line and I will gladly try to help you. Robert's Recipes is now on Facebook: this has added a new dimension to these pages with the ability to offer greater detail and more interaction with our readers. It has been especially gratifying to make connections with so many of our neighbours, friends, local businesses and organisations in our home-town Elora, Ontario through this medium.
I am not sure whether the pleasure of these pages for me is the cooking and recipes or the fun of experimenting with page design and logos and photographing the finished meals. It makes a great combination of my interests in cooking, art and design and computers. I certainly enjoy following the tracking of the pages and seeing how many countries my visitors come from - it's almost like collecting stamps.
Just to clear up any confusion: although this site operates under the umbrella domain name of 'www.robertsplace.ca', it can also be accessed as www.robertsrecipes.com or www.robertsrecipes.ca - just to make it easier to remember! All these URL's will take you to the front page.
Please take the time to send me an email - suggestions for improvement, comments, or even a recipe you would like me to feature: I'd love to hear from you!
