Robert
This is a very popular British dessert that is hardly known in the rest of the world. It is super-decadent, and yet is so fabulously delicious that it's worth spoiling yourself once in a while!
The name comes from 'banana - toffee'.

Scottish Shortbread A delicious shortbread recipe from Sarah McGoldrick. Shortbread is simplicity itself, and non-purists (like me) have been known to add rogue ingredients such as dried cranberries to the basic recipe. |

Greek Salad You can make Greek salad in many ways, according to what you have on hand. I feel it is essential to have the Kalamata olives, feta cheese and oregano, even if you do skip or substitute one or two of the other ingredients. |

Plum Sauce Plum Sauce is great with chicken and pork, and all types of Chinese food. Unfortunately almost all of the plum sauce sold in Canada is made from pumpkin and lots of other ingredients I've never even heard of! This is a real plum sauce that has a bit of a tang to it and you can control the sweetness to suit your own taste. |

English Malt Bread I remember what a treat Malt Bread was when I was a nipper growing up in England. I have yet to find the exact recipe for the small, heavy dark and gooey loaf we used to have then, but this one tastes just as good and is somewhat lighter in texture. |

Chocolate Brandy Ice Cream Home made ice cream is fabulous, and this recipe for chocolate brandy ice cream is the best we have ever made. We used our Cuisinart ice cream maker and found that the ice cream was at its best after freezing overnight. |

Blackberry Cobbler My mother used to make this all the time when we were kids growing up in England, using fresh blackberries that we would pick by the bucketful. A great old-fashioned dessert, especially in summer, served with ice cream. |

This recipe is simplicity itself and the results are quite impressive! It was all I could do to save enough of the confection to take the photograph. This makes a great gift for someone special and only takes about fifteen minutes to make.

Pretzel Rolls or Laugenbrötchen These beautiful German buns caught my eye at our local baker, and I knew that I had to make them for myself. I can't help wondering, "Are these the original Hot Cross Buns?" Absolutely delicious with fresh cheese and butter.
